EUROPEAN REGIONAL MASTER’S DEGREE IN DEMOCRACY AND HUMAN RIGHTS IN SOUTH EAST EUROPE (ERMA)

The European Regional Master’s Degree in Democracy and Human Rights in South East Europe (ERMA), is a unique regional interdisciplinary one – year full time MA programme. It is established in 2000, through the joint efforts of eleven participating universities and research centers, coordinated by the Center for Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Studies of the University of Sarajevo in cooperation with the University of Bologna through its Istituto per l’Europa Centro – Orientale e Balcanica. The ERMA programme is an educational activity intended for students that would combine practical experience in human rights issues with further academic study.

MA Program: European Studies (ES)

European Studies (ES) is a two-year Master of Arts Program organized in the cooperation with the University of Bologna and London School Economics. It focuses on several research areas related to the European integration process throughout the analysis of the political, social, legal and economic structures in the countries of the European Union. ES brings together more then fifty world renowned scholar and experts in the fields of law, political sciences, economy, philosophy, and sociology, and utilizes the BiH academic and expert base to its fullest.

Master in State Management and Humanitarian Affairs (SM-HA)

Master Program in State Management and Humanitarian Affairs is organized by the University of Sarajevo, BiH, University of Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro, and University La Sapienza, Italy. This 18 month Master Program, in English language, focuses on the most challenging issues regarding State Management and Humanitarian Affairs with a multicultural and multidisciplinary approach. The Master program is designed to provide students with the preparation necessary to professionally deal with regional, national and international institutions, policies and good governance, strategic management of public, private and non-profit organizations, prevention and management of crisis, human security and human rights. Professors and experts involved in the program come from Italy, BiH and Serbia and Montenegro.

MA Program: Gender Studies

Why to conduct the MA Program in Gender Studies? In the last decades, within scientific research and academic education, gender has become the key notion for understanding of the overall area of knowledge. It does not belong to one scientific discipline, but implies the substantial quality of interdisciplinary approaches and enables the transfer of methods and episteme over the boundaries of particular disciplines. On this way it opens perspectives where issue of scientific is possible to place on the new and higher promising bases, which are aware of limiting gender prejudices deeply hidden and functioning in all so called objective scientific paradigms.
